Rust stains between rear bumper and rear quarter panels?

Has anyone noticed what seems to be rust stains in the seams between the rear bumper and rear quarter panels? I noticed this on my FX (silver) and did some investigating. It looks like there is a metal bracket directly behind (or slightly above)these seems that rusts out and as water runs through the various channels of the back hatch during a rainstorm or car wash, it flushes out the rusted area leaving a rust “film” between the two body parts. The film easily washes off but if don’t wash the vehicle regularly it begins to accumulate. Just wondering if any else has noticed this on their FXs?
 
Yep, I notice that and you're right on that there is a metal bracket behind there that holds up the rear fender piece to the bumper cover.
 
There is also another rust point behind the rear chrome trim if you have the keyless entry button. The bracket that hold the button will rust away leaving a rust trail coming from the bottom of the trim.
 
yeah, and eventually one day you will go to press that button and it will just sink into the hole as that little bracket completely deteriorates.

japanese cars in general are usually a bit lacking in the hardware they use. the bodies aren't so much prone to rust prematurely anymore but all the hardware, nuts and bolts and misc bracketry really are still prone to rusting
