Hey guys, question, i'm the second owner of my 2010 Infiniti FX35 and has a good healthy 171K highway miles which has driven me from NYC to Miami (several times) NY to Chicago etc... no issues. Aside from driving over several puddles its never been in any floods or whatever.... i recently looks at my undercarriage and was shocked.... NYC rain and winters have done a number on my baby!

I recently purchased a rear sub-frame crossmember on ebay for 225.00 + shipping which will get installed this month... but otherwise, i'm noticed Rust and corrosion even in some screws and bolts in the engine bay. The Pully wheels have some rust on them too. Car runs likes its new, but i don't want have any issues.

Should i be concerned? What should i do with the rust?

The first owner most likely did not put undercoating on!

After this winter in April, i think i need to put an undercoating. What do you recommend i use and on what exactly? I can hire someone or a shop to do it.

It depends where you live. You could use a product that needs to be reapplied annually such as Krown, Rust Chek, Corrosion Free, or Fluid Film. Any one of these are great but will drip for a few days after application. There are also thicker products, some are oil based and some are rubberized. I would stay away from any of the rubberized products as they can trap moisture and make things rust quicker.
