Replacing the EX antenna with Dolphin antenna

Hi guys

Can someone has an idea how to remove the antenna base?

I bought the Dolphin antenna from Beat-Sonic.com. But it won't fit the base. I need to remove the base then put the Dolphin antenna on top.

I thought it is just a bolt-on mod. :frown:
Thanks in advance.

On the fx the base is held on with a nut inside the car. Pretty sure it would be similar...I don't have an ex manual though.

It is installed with a nut mounted below the roof but, unfortunately you have to remove the headliner (rear) to get to it.

You might be able to just pry away the back of the headliner but the service manual refers to a special tool to use. I would suggest getting the full service manual. You can get one at infinitihelp but you have to subscribe to get the full manuals($10) as they don't have any free sections available. You might be able to get a free manual over at phatG20.net. I'm not sure if they have the EX manuals but if they do they are a reliable source.

Otherwise, removing the headliner seems like a pretty time consuming task.

Do you have satellite radio "IlovemyFX" ?
Since I am looking to see if any 2005 FX35 that came with Satellite radio to see where I can mount my satellite antenna when I do my install. I want it to look as if my car came like that from the factory. if you can please send me a picture of the location of the FACTORY MOUNTED SATELLITE antenna.

Thank you

I don't have sat in my 05. I think the factory position is centered near the back but the add on installation point is usually offset near the back mount of the drivers side roof rail.

Took a page from the FX forums, used their DIY stubby antenna mod.

Works perfectly for our EX also. 5mm x 10 or 12mm socket screw costs a dollar, vacuum cap cost maybe 5 or 8 dollars for a pack of them.

Can't post URL's or Images yet, but you can find that mod under 09+ FX Mods.
