Replacing tail lights

I was taking one of my tail lights off to replace the bulb with an LED, and the plastic just disintegrated on me despite my efforts to gently take it off. I was able to finagle it back together and use some tape as it split right at the edge where the mounting pin closer to the front of the car is.

This leads me to know with a fact, the other tail light will similarly shatter if I ever try to remove it, so I'm looking to replace both of these tail lights now.

Question is, I looked at the OEM replacements, which I'm ok with but a little ho hum. Do the '17 Premium tail lights drop right in on the older QX70's or any difference in mounting pins? I'm not sure if I love the look or not, and at $800 after buying all the matching ones it's rather pricey too and still the same arrangement as the current ones ultimately.

I came across a few really nice looking full LED tail lights from AliEx, but at $1k+ are not cheap enough for me to just take a shot at. Has anyone tried these or any others from AliEx? Or is there anyone else who makes full drop in replacement tail lights for the QX70?

This one has a few reviews...and they go about as I would expect!

Side rant, but my god what did they make these tail light housings out of? It is the cheapest most brittle plastic I have ever seen on a car. I was using a plastic spudger and being gentle but honestly I'm not sure if I just took a metal screwdriver and smacked it with a hammer it would've had that different of a result...I have quality LEDs to swap for the bulbs so at least if I just buy the OEM lights again they should never need to come off again, but would love to just go for an even bigger lighting upgrade.

I recently replaced my Limited clear ones after I applied my 3M wrap and prefer the OEM Red that came on the QX70S trim. I purchased mine here and they were shipped out of Atlanta, GA with bulbs included for plug n play. I did use a trim tool to remove the old ones without scratching anything. Upgraded all the bulbs for LED's, including the turn signal ones from Auxito with no issues:

Yeah, part of me thinks the altezza style on the Limited is cool because it's different. But then when I use to look at GX460s I remember thinking those silver tail lights were kinda ugly and I liked the red ones better. I saw nothing that instilled confidence in the AliEx tail lights (A shame, some of them look real cool). Seems like a crapshoot of them just mounting the low quality LEDs you can get off Amazon and charging a premium price.

I used to have a Mk 7.5 Golf and the OEM VW Euro LED tail lights were around $1k so paying that much for non-OEM and of questionable quality seems like a poor value.

Do you have a picture with the limited wrapped ones? I'm planning the same, lamps will arrive soon.
