I got my FX back from the body shop for the second time from them fixing there screw ups from last time. They had it for three weeks this time aaaaargh! It has several new issues one of witch is clear coat overspray on the windsheild.Any ideas on best way to clean it off? I thought about a razor blade with a soapy lubricant but I'm afraid I'll scratch the glass.
I do not want to want to take it back to them again beause they screw new stuff up every time!!!! I am going to try and fix all the current screw ups myself.

Original story here:

My wife got rear ended on Memorial day weekend. Our FX's hold up rather well. The Jeep Cherokee that hit her had it's front bumper tore off completely and the FX had a small crease on the bumper.
The insurance replaced the bumper witch made me happy as I had some scratches on my bumper .
I had both doors on drivers side done also-all dings repaired and painted.I am thinking of tying paintless dent removale for dings on other side doors.
The bumper came out looking good but I have to take the FX back to the body shop where I had the work done to fix all their screw up's.There are several spots with clear coat runs,They managed to screw up stuff that was in good condition before I brought it in.They managed to scratch all 4 roof rail end caps, rear plastic window cover, and several other areas with a power buffer. Also the doors they painted are not done to my satisfaction. They said they will make it right.I'm going to take it back because I want it done right but I am more than little worried about bringing it back to them.I always thought that when you brought a car to a body shop your car should come back better than it was not worse.

i feel you man, i've had terrible body work done to my fx when i got my grille painted this week, im going to post pics did some other stuff too :top:

if your afraid to use a razor, get some #0000 steel wool, trust me, won't scratch & makes the windows nice, just water & rub, but don't touch any moldings or paint or anything, that it will make marks, it's awesome for glass though as long as you don't scuff anything adjacent to the glass

as long as you keep it at an angle like a shaving blade, a razor can't scratch anything, it wouldn't even scratch your skin let alone glass:wink:, it's perfectly safe, just shaves the glass clean

I'm going to give the razor blade a shot tommorrow.
I rubbed out the overspray and buffer scratches today on the plastic rear window cowl and buffed out buffer scratches on several spots on paint as well.
The pisser is that they scratched up areas where no work was done.I had to spend hours detailing the inside as well. They managed to get the water sanding mess on the interior as well.
Some of the clear coat is a little dull in spots I have been hand polishing it with meguires cleaner wax and that is working on most of it.
:cool:Will rubbing compound be too abrasive on the clear coat?

There's no reason why you should have to deal with this. Did you try the BBB?
The problem as I understand it is that you have to let them try to make it right first before you can take any legal action. They are willing to take it back and work on it again at no charge but I just don't want to take it back to the butchers so that makes it my problem.I'm no lawyer though so if someone knows better chime in please.

But how many times do you need to bring it back before taking other action. There must be some limitation, yah?

The way they work it would probably be after my ride was reduced to a pile of junk.
Not sure how many times-any lawyers out there with an answer? At this point I feel like I should be able to have them pay to have the whole car painted correctly at a competent shop.:crossedlips:
