wouldnt 285/50 have a larger diameter vs 265/50 (stock), thus alter the actual speed on the odom?

Yes because the aspect ratio (The profile or height, 50 in this case) Is calculated off of a % of the tire's width. This is a big issue for Jeep, 4X4 owners when they lift their cars and put on giant mudders.

Ya, you gotta be lowered with the 45s, looks bad otherwise. With the thinner sidewall, the 45s should make you a bit lower too.

I'm thinking of lowering with H&R springs... going back to stock rims and have a choice of new tires... So would the 265/50/20 look okay?

265-50 would be stock size. another popular size is 285-45-20

the diameter will be very similar (see tire calculator in member tab above.) the added benefits is the wider tire.

but you'll probably sacrifice ride quality right? wonder if 50 to 45 won't matter that much... I have 40 series tires now and it's a bit rough for me. I don't have springs or new shocks yet though.

I have the 50, but they are run-flats. I'm hoping to get a 45 next, since my rears are about done, and I want to get non run-flats so it could end up softer.
