Rearview Mirror in Middle of Windshield

More of a rant than anything else, but does anybody else think the rearview mirror is way lower towards the center of the windshield than it needs to be? My seating position is otherwise great but the visibility in that direction is total crap. There's a few inches between the mirror and the top of the windshield, and I really wish I could move it up. If I lower the seat then I won't see the hood.
Anybody else get annoyed by this?
I'm 6' by the way.
 
I'm 5'10" and it doesn't bother me that much... Although I don't like sitting high and I have the seat at the LOWEST position... What bothers me more is the A pillar (especially to the left) that is so thick it blocks a lot... Like in a parking lot, it can actually block a full person with a shopping cart! And I've popped them off and they're mostly air... They should have designed them with better angles to reduce the blocked line of sight... And everyone complains about the C pillar as well, but I found I got used to it and it doesn't bother me much any more...
 
YES! The mirror is mounted too low. This really, really bothers me because my route to work includes a long winding curve which happens to be at the exact angle that it blocks my view completely. I have to cock my head every time just to see the road.
 
Soooo sad, I'm starting to tear up? ,..... seriously, I'm 6' 3", and I noticed this issue too. And 6' 3" refers to height, NOT two separate stats!

6 feet I can understand but ummmmm 3 inches ........ ummmm dare I ask where [emoji849]??

I just don't understand why there is so much space between the mirror and the headliner. Even my short wife would be able to tilt a mirror that was closer to the top of the window to suit her.

Can anybody think of a way to move this? Not sure what's involved or how it's mounted.
 
Just measured, my mirror is mounted about an inch lower from the top of the windshield that on my wife's Avalon. Guess you could pop the mirror mount off the glass and move it up.
 
have you tried physically pushing the mirror all the way up? I'm 6'2" and had the same issue when I first got the car. The mirror pivits on the mount from the windshield in addition to the one you adjust for the angle.

I had to push the mirror all the way up so it is now close to the roof console. This took care of the issue.

Ha! I feel like an idiot. I had no idea there was a second joint behind the mirror. Its not something you would see unless you know to look for it, and it's stiffer than the angle joint so it didn't give any hints. It was obviously positioned down, as shown below. It's now tucked up and much better, so that arm is about parallel with the window. Could be higher still, but definitely livable now. I don't think I've seen a double joint behind a mirror before, but who knows.

LOL! My SUPER old Mercury Topaz had a nice double-jointed mirror... Probably the only good thing in that entire car!!! ;)
 
This brought about a single memory of many years ago when the wife and I had a "second car" worth $ 75; a '57 Plymouth with push button tranny and the R/V mirror mounted in a ball joint to the dash board. It was impossible to keep the ball joint tight enough, so on a cold day anytime you braked, or accelerated abruptly the entire R/V mirror and stalk would collapse to the dash with a solid "clunk". Only Plymouth I ever owned; it had torrisen bar suspension and a surprisingly good ride! I'm 5'12" by the way!
 
It's funny to see this. I can't see pedestrians out of my FX due to the mirror placement. I looked into moving it higher, but something (rain sensor?) is mounted directly above it on the windshield behind that plastic cover. So - I try not to run anyone over.
