Rattling....WHERE THE HELL IS IT COMING FROM!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know what it is but I have a rattling sound coming from the undercarriage...not when i hit bumps ( thats another issue coming from the back end ) but it sounds like a heat shroud or something....it's loud enough to bother the hell out of me and its downright embarrassing. Sounds like my car is a turd. Sometimes i can only hear it when i'm next to another car- i guess the sound bounces of and makes it more noticeable.Its very noticeable during startup and idle. then it seems to go away (until i'm next to another car and i can slightly hear it)..but does anyone else have this going on or know what it is?! :mad:
 
I don't have this problem, but you might try tapping around underneath the car with a rubber mallet to see if you can narrow it down. I've had a rock in my muffler before with another car...you just never know.
 
Just above the E-Break pedal, there's a screw. Get a screwdriver, and turn it a few times.

Edit: Even though you said it isn't when you go over bumps, I'd still give that a try as its very common with the M
 
Do you have coils? Mine did this when I installed my coils. Ended up being rear end linkage. Had it replaced and its as good as new.
 
no still makes the noise...going to take it to a shop so they can put it on a lift and get a better ear on it. I can guarantee its not the coils because it makes the sound out idle.
