RAS error light. Should I be concerned?

I’ve had my RAS light come on twice in the past 2 days, along with a few others.

They all seem to come on at the same time. If you turn off the car, they go away for many hours to days.

This is my first service appointment I’ve needed in over a year and a half. My appointment is on Wednesday. Are these errors something to worry about until then? Should I be driving this weekend?

Thoughts?

RAS = Rear Active Steering

Since all the other lights are on it has nothing to do with RAS. It sounds like something involving the traction system or brakes.

It could be anything from low brake pads to low brake fluid or a sensor malfunction for the traction system.

Okay.. I have the answer... I have low break pads in the rear..
I wouldn`t have thought I`d have low pads at 29K miles..

For fun I asked the dealer what it would cost to replace just the pads and I was quoted $1K for just pad replacement.
I had a good laugh..

I wanted to post this info for future RAS searchers.. :)

Just came across this post searching for RAS light. I've had this same combo of lights a few times recently. Will check the rear brakes soon. Notice mileage is at 29k too!

Its 100% breaks... WOW, you were only 3 miles apart on the photos.. ;)

The service manager told me the 50 burns through break really quickly.

But don't change your break pads at the dealer! They'll want a zillion dollars! HA!

I will check the brakes and replace soon. Hopefully I can find a good price on the OEM parts. Either way I will do the work myself. Thanks

Might the OP's mileage be in KM as he has a Canadian vehicle and is showing L / 100 KM fuel economy?

Give Harvey a call first and see what he says regarding the lights and rear brakes? Look at the pads and measure the rotor thickness in the area of pad contact with the dial caliper and give info to him.

I'm Canadian, but with an imported FX.. I'm in miles, with fuel economy displayed in L/100 KM.. :)
I'm sneaky!

I finally got around to checking the rear brakes. The rotors seem fine at 19.634mm but the pads are done, only 2-3mm left. Also checked the brake fluid and it looks perfect. Going to order pads tomorrow and may have the rear rotors turned. I also discovered that the rear pads can be changed without removing the caliper. Only need to remove two clips and two pins. Only tool needed was needle nose pliers.

How did you know what the min./max. thickness specifications are for the rear rotors on a 2009 50S? Is the minimum thickness stamped on the rotor casting?

I remember paying $359 per axle.
That sounds about right as I just got a quote from my local dealer for $327 for replacing rear pads and resurfacing the rotors. I just ordered new OEM pads for $59 and will have the rotors resurfaced at the local auto parts store for $20.

Then you can install everything yourself and save on labor.

brake pads at 21k?

did you find replacing the pads stopped the alarming number of warning lights from happening again? i had the same lights with 21k miles on Sunday and was not too happy about it but everything was fine when i shut it off and restarted?? with that light combination, i did find the nannys are all off and you can kick the back end out rather nicely...

looks like it might be brake time soon..
