Radio reception poor

I recently noticed that when I am driving, my FM stations dont come in clear. Event the big Z100 station comes in static-ky. Then realized that this only happens when I drive with the headlights on. Could my OEM ballasts be causing interference? Anyone else have this happen? My lights are original, with the exception of Philips Ultinon bulbs. Dont believe that it is the bulbs, because this started a few months back and I've had the bulbs for over a year.
 
Try to unscrew the unicorn antenna to see if the reception worsen. If so, might just be a bad antenna? Heck, stick a metal coat hanger there while the antenna is removed to see if it reception any better just to prove the antenna is the culprit.

Viperi, I did get the dash changed last year. You think that has anything to do with it? And I am going to unscrew the antennae and see what happens. And if need be, I will drive with a coat hanger. Ghetto FX-style.:tongue:
 
But does the reception suck because you have the headlights on? Or just sucks after you had the dash replaced?
@Andy..testing out the antenna and that's not the problem. It seems to be interference when the lights are on. Maybe when I take the bumper off to swap out for clear lenses, I'll test to see if it really is the ballast causing the trouble.
 
Lets see...did you also get your dashed replaced? and does this happen only when you turn on the headlights? I like to drive with my lights on during the day...Love my Ultinons!! That's how my wife realized that it was when the lights are on. It's her DD, but she doesn't drive with lights on. When I get in and drive, on come the headlights and the static. Doesn't affect the XM though.
 
Yep, dashboard was replaced a couple years ago and no issues until now. No she keeps the lights on auto, so they go off in daytime. I will check the antenna to see if something is loose or ?
