Qx80 paint chips, drivers door

Has anyone had issues with rocks from hwy driving causing paint chips on any specific area? I have two pea sized rock chips on my drivers side door.

I have the clear bra on the entire front. I didn't expect rocks to be chipping away at the side doors :(

Also wondering about the AC temp control and the seat heater fansystem. Pros? Cons?

Not uncommon to get occasional chipping on the sides, either due to the offset of your rims or just rocks in general flying up from other vehicles. Just get some touch up paint and add a dab on the chip, if you really want to get into it, you can even wet sand the dried tu paint with something like 2500 grit sand paper on a sanding block. But, a dab on the chip will probably be good enough.

Yeah I actually have a good amount of rock chips on the front hood because I always take it on long trips. I never gotten any on my side doors, that sounds a bit odd to me. I tried doing touch ups but I wasn't satisfied with the results so I just leave them as they are. Your best bet would be taking it to a auto body shop and getting it repaired professionally.

Having worked in the automotive industry both at the dealership level and major bodyshop networks i can confirm that Infiniti/Nissan tend to have a soft factory paint. Your best bet is to try and save the factory paint which will never me matched by any other bodyshop (Hi Bake factory method) vs. aftermarket (soft bake method).
They will carefully wet sand the paint while being careful not to go through the clear coat and then seal the paint with Ceramic coating such as Cquartz or OptiCoat

My rock chips are pretty deep, you can literally see the steel colored body underneath. I am surprised these have a very soft coat especially for the price of these.

I hear you...it all started when OEM manufacturers started using water based paint!
In that case you have 2 options touch-ups or respray I would consult a professional and get a couple of advice
Since you have a new car try to contact infiniti directly. I do recall a similar issue to an old coworker with his Ibis White A4 he really had to fight but got it covered after months of relentless communication with Audi Canada

Gonna try again to respond to Melissa's comments...No, I don't think ur nuts Melissa, very similar issue here, bought a brand new 2015 fully loaded black QX 80, noticed a paint abrasion (dime size) on rear bumper and showed sales rep. at purchase, they said they would fix. I thought nothing of it cuz have been a long time and happy Infiniti owner (2005 FX and 2008 QX56/no issues with either, still have QX56)..few months later, I noticed a curious "paint chip" (few MM) that exposed a "white" undercoat/paint, was told by dealer..oh it was most likely road debris and they gladly "touched it up" for free (looked shitty on my brand new black QX 80 but I chose to live with it and move on)..weeks later, noticed exact same issue on same door, then more of them, then on other doors, then other side of QX 80, on the roof, on the hood...any like very first "paint chip" NONE of them had visible impact areas that would have caused paint chip (they even looked with magnifying glass). Months later, I am literally taking my QX 80 back to dealer tomorrow (12/2/16) for a final test (paint density test) to validate their spend to repaint the "ENTIRE VEHICLE"! Ur posts/and others on other sites now help me to realize mine IS NOT and isolated incident (dealer stated) and Infiniti is being dishonest with me!

Am happy to discuss further with anyone with similar concerns/really appreciate ur post Melissa, that's what helped me find this site. Will keep all abreast of what happens with my QX 80 but I'm now gonna accept no less than a fully repainted vehicle/I had also got the clear coat when I bought it. As of now, my QX 80 is most likely my last Infinti vehicle, am very disappointed, spent over $70 G's...

Hi Purchased my QX80 over an escalade. What a mistake. I like the vehicle but the number of rocks vs other vehicles is very disappointing. I believe there is a paint adhesion issue to the metal. I contacted Infiniti and they are not will to help with the issue. I am not sure what the vehicle will look like in a few more years.

I purchased 2017 WX 80, also paint chipping in several places. I’m stirring the pot until Nissan agrees to repaint my luxury vehicle that is very much demeaning to pay more for luxury and be forced to be embarrassed by chips all over it. I refuse to pay for this defect.
