lately i have been hearing a valve tick. Maybe its always been there but i cant be sure. Do you guys have this also?

Engine Noise
After reading thru the link, you are scaring me with all this engine replacement talk, especially since my 2003 FX35 has the same low rpm noise and is well out of warranty. Using a mechanic's stethoscope, I can isolate the noise down to the valvetrain on the exhaust side. I'm going to pull it apart to take a look. Well, I might first talk to a friend who works for Nissan.

My friend at the Nissan dealership says these engines are known to produce valvetrain noise with high miles like I have (97k miles). Has anyone else ever needed to work on their valve train.

I have that noise on my 2003 fx45 and it has 74k. has anyone ever taken care of this problem?

It says in the manual to check for valve clearance so I think they mean to adjust it . My 2003 fx45 does it always but it has always done it . At least that I can remember . The fx45 does it more than the fx35 but it doesn't do anything bad to the car .
