I recently purchased a 2010 EX35 and I'm having an issues with the steering. After taking a turn the wheels do not want to return to center on their own. For example: If you take a 90 degree right turn and then loosen your grip on the wheel, instead of the wheel gradually going back to center as the car moves forward, my wheel will go back to about 25 degrees and then stop. At this point it has to be nudged back manually or the car will continue to turn, it make no attempt to go back to center from there.
My mechanic agreed with me after driving it that something is off but since the car is under warranty from Carmax we agreed it would be better to take it back to them first and see what they say. After waiting for two hours I was informed that the alignment was a bit off but that the steering was fine. The told me that "that car has wider front tires than most cars and the tires have a really aggressive tread so that's normal". When I informed them that my Corvette which is running 275 width tires on the front and has a much more aggressive suspension will go back to center with no problem they just shrugged at me.
Has anyone else encountered this kind of issue? The wheel is very stiff and will stick anywhere you put it within a few degrees of center. I've never driven a car that, in this scenario, wouldn't attempt to correct itself if you let go of the wheel.
