hey guys, need some help ASAP

I've run into a problem with my FX in the past couple of days.
I start the car; it starts up totally fine and healthy, and idles just fine at around 1k
However, the VDC off, SLIP, BRAKE, ABS, AWD, Tire pressure, and CEL stay lit on the dash, and the tachometer and speedometer stay at 0 and the display under the tach for the PRND or 12345 displays nothing. Also, the turn signal light does not come up on the dash, but the signals are working. This has happened twice right after starting and once while I was driving. After a few restarts. it would go away and drive fine.

I can put it into gear just fine without any issue and begin to drive, but when it wants to change gears it changes gears HARD and when I put it in manumatic it shifts gears by itself anyway. Also, when I went to brake slightly with the wheel turned, it sounded like the ABS was going off or the power steering pump was making a noise, and felt like there was no power steering. I had to drive like this for a few minutes to get back to my gf's (I'm in PA right now, no infiniti dealer near me)
This also happened the other day, but while I was driving. The car just started changing gears and I pulled off to the side in N while the ABS was going off. After two restarts it was back to normal. This was after trying to jump start my friend's 1990 foxbody mustang with a supercharged 302 @9psi with a dead battery. so I thought I just drained mine...
Thursday I drove 3.5 hours to my Gf's and the car was fine the ENTIRE time. I also drove around sunday and yesterday morning without an issue. it happened again yesterday afternoon.
However, since It happened yesterday, the lights keep coming on after I start the car. I disconnected the battery and did an ecu reset, and now the only lights that stay up are the SLIP, CEL, and VDC off. The codes it throws is U1000 which I think is a grounding issue. (I also have p0430 from my 02 sensor on my HFC...but doesnt have to do with this)

before this week, my car was sitting for about 3 months, started once a week, but for the most part sitting.
Do you guys think this is a grounding issue, voltage issue, maybe I need a new battery?

Right now my car is in my gf's garage with heat, and when I start it the VDC, CEL, and SLIP lights stay on. I havent tried driviing it. It's about 20 degrees out and there isnt as much snow as NY haha

help?
of coourse this would happen to me while I'm trying to sell the damn car......
I need to fix this because In a few days I need to drive 3.5 hours back home to NY...

p.s. NO I HAVE NOT BEEN DRIFTING (plus, my GTRs are still on)

update:

Just checked brake fluid, it's at MAX level, and I looked at the pads with the wheels still on and they seem to be OK...

update:

checked the battery; DC voltage is 14.9 and AC voltage fluctuates between 2 and 5.....battery seems to be ok

First thing, is the ground wire kit connected to the ECU?

It just might be that the is as overload to the module that sits near the ECU which controls the Traction control.

If this is the case disconnect it and do the steps to reset the ECU minus the Ground Wire touching the ECU and take it from there.

If your brake fluids and your brakes pads are ok, you should be OK.

Just noticed that your AWD.

The GTR wheels might also be the cause of this problem since you have a staggered set up.

The VDC, BRAKE and SLIP lights stay on for a while after the "problem" is gone. I busted a hard U-turn once and set off all three. About a week later they turned off.

I don't know about speeding up the warning light cycle. Try unplugging the battery overnight...?

yeah I dont think its the wheels since I've had them on the entire summer with no problems at all...
Ground wire is connected...let me try a reset without it. Thanks

Hmmmm alright, let me see if I unplug it and reset it again if that helps.

thanks guys:tup:

just took it for a spin, the VDC off and SLIP lights were on but went away after driving for a few minutes, and nothing else came on while I was driving and everything seems to be okay now.

I'm still going to check all the fuses, grounds, etc.

U1000 code is a grounding issue of the ECU. Check the stock grounds at the ECU and all ground wire kit wires. There are also 2 grounds behind the dash that get loose sometimes, you have to pull the dash to fix them. I get a U1000 code every once in a while, dealer said it was $1000 to fix the two grounding points behing the dash...

I don't remember it throwing that many "lights" on the dash. Usually I get VDC SLIP CEL.... maybe because your AWD you get more?

I have the same problem with my 04 35. the VDC, SLIP, and BREAK light are stuck on. the permormance and drive is just fine so I havent done anything about it. Looks bad on the dash though.

you're likely to find a blown fuse..stolen mode.

we'll see

hmmm possibly

you have a BREAK light? haha jk....
yours may just be brakes...

would that set off the VDC and SLIP light too? the tracktion control is off all of the time(which is fine with me). Rather it is stuck off then on.

yes. It just came on when I was driving one day and never went away. Along with the other lights, not just the BRAKE light. BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE :wink (2):

Did you have grounding kit installed? Check the ECU compartment to see if there is any water leakage.

I had something similar last time few months after i installed the grounding kit. The grounding cable through the main harness to the ECU compartment had water leakage and caused short circuit on the ECU connector. The penetration on the main harness needs to be sealed off.

It looks to me a grounding issue. Or probably a bad ECM ground connector?

i think its a gorunding issue but it hasnt pestered me in a few days so whatev. It's going to the dealer for one last oil change/brake check 34567890 pt check so ill have them look into it....

Not to threadjack but maybe this will shed some light on your issue.

I'm having a similar problem, except for me it's just the VDC OFF and SLIP lights that remain engaged, nothing else.

I notice that they appear only while I'm standing and only after a fairly-aggressive drive. Occasionally they'll pop on while I'm braking. I figured it was the brake fluid (even though the brake light on the dash isn't lighting) but levels were fine. I know it may be pad/rotor related but I got those suckers changed 4 months ago.

I don't notice any difference in drive, and can get the lights to turn off by power-cycling the car, but they have never turned off on their own.

My best bet is that it's a speed sensor issue, will take to shop in coming week and report back.

I have this issue also.

My "SLIP", "BRAKE" AND "VDC OFF" LIGHTS all turn on when I put my FX in drive. They always go on in the mornings or when my FX has not been drivin in a while. It runs great, but I don't like how all the lights are on.

Seems like Reseting the ECU will resolve this? I don't have a grounding kit installed. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks in advance.
