Preventative Maintenance

What sort of preventative maintenance should be done on the fx45? For example, my other car is a 1999 BMW and I have replaced the entire cooling system as preventative mainenance, just because it is prone to fail on those cars. So what does everyone do on their fx's? Any weak point that should be replaced?....besides the brakes

How many miles on your FX?
60K service includes:
-Transmission Flush
-Oil change
-Differentials flush
-Air and Cabin filter
-Belts
-Radiator cap:smile (2):

Nothing really pops in mind that is "prone to failure" on the FX that I know of. Just regular routine maintenance will do.

And beside the transmission flush all of those are pretty easy to do. And no the FX is very reliable as long as you keep up with maintenance

i would grease bolts and nuts. Muffler bolts, Especially the rear 2 long 12mm shock bolts. They are prone to break off and a pain to fix.

Aside from regularly scheduled maintenance, it can't hurt to replace suspension bushings and stuff like that that wears over time and mileage. Once I get to around 100k I plan to look into replacing a lot of the suspension stuff like Ed did.

Ok thats great news. I have 114,000 and it has always been dealer serviced its whole life. It feels really tight, only think I need to do is adjust that steering bolt to get rid of the shake around 60 mph and brake pads. BTW I posted this in the fx35 section, ment to put it in the fx45 section.

Well let me just move that for you right quick. :good:

I'm doing some of the preventative myself. Is there a diagram for replacing the cabin filter. 08 FX. You guys were a life saver last weekend. She got broken into and I replaced the Passenger front glass myself. And it was doing the roll half way done bit. You guys had the diagram and instructions to reset motor.
Thanks! You've got a lifer!

sorry to thread jack but what you guys think about replacing the o2 sensors on the headers for maintenance or can i just clean it with something? i got 103 000km on the fx.

what about the injectors( i think thats whats it called. the thing that plugs into the spark plug) and spark plug wires?

if is the sensor for the intake you can clean it.. they sell products specialy to clean the o2 sensor.

and that would be sparplugs coils.. i think it would be a good think to replaced next time you change your spark plugs if you have never change it and your fx have 130k

Just want to say that if anyone pays to have their brake pads changed they need to be slapped! Literally took me an hour to do it. If you can unscrew 6 bolt per wheel (5 lug nuts and 1 caliper nut) then you can do it. Haha seriously if anyone has any questions about it PM me. It is absolutely unnecessary to pay anyone to do this.

im thinking that also but i never hear about them being changed which got me wondering
