I think cleaning the TB is a good idea because, left alone, you may experience the problems members had (hard starting, wont stay on, irregular idle). Of course work on this at your own risk.

You are so right Alan. That was going to be my approach(removing the upper plenum) but one of the TB's bolts gave me a he'll of a problem, so I decided to just do a partial cleaning of it. My goal it's to clean the whole upper plenum along with the TB.

Once again thank you so much guys for all the info.

If I didn't know about IS, I would have called a tow truck, take it to a mechanic and pay them a arm, leg,right nut, and my first unborn male child!!! LOL

if you have allot of oil in the plenum (i had a some), then think about adding a oil catch (in the DIY section)
 
LOL I think we are jacking the crap out of this Thread!! Let's bring any post to the thread "my fx just die" which is more on relation to the problem I had. Also I want to know more about the oil catch for the plenum please. I haven't mess around with my K&N filter yet so soon I will have to clean it. And that will requiered oil and stuff
 
Premium It is.

Ive been using 89 for years, but then Ive never had vehicle like this infiniti. So when i reached for the nozzle I automatically reached for the 89. That was my first full tank of 89 since I picked up the car. After the reading your posts I will definitely and purposely fill it with 92 or better. Gallons of thanks guys.

I think i'm gonna keep for i long time my FX so i only put supreme, before i try to put octane 89 twice and the performance it's not great. At Costco we have gas station and the price it's always cheap.
 
The carbon build-up is mostly caused by went shutting down the engine fuel vapor needs some place to exit, and the small gap at the throttle plate is high in the engine and a place for the vapor to leave.
