AC Schnitzer Type 2

COR Cipher

My buddy just bought genuine AC Schnitzer wheels that didn't fit his ride. I have an opportunity to grab them really cheap. New they cost around $5000. They are in really good shape. Also ACS wheels are 10.5" wide vs COR 9.5" wide. I was thinking to upgrade the tires to 285/35/22 as well, if I go with ACS wheels, right now I have 265/40/22. Here are the specs

AC Schnitzer wheels:

Diameter: 22"
Width: 10.5"
Offset: +45
Weight: ~34 lbs

COR Cipher wheels:

Diameter: 22"
Width: 9.5"
Offset: +45(front) +25 (rear)
Weight: ~33 lbs

I also would like to powdercoat ACS wheels in copper. Here is the color:

Bad PS with ACS wheels

And another bad PS with COR cipher(I will strip the faces to bare aluminum and clear coat them):

Thanks for the feedback in advance!

Keep the COR's. The ACS wheels are a bit dated looking and look more appropriate on a 90's 7 series. I think your current wheels are much more interesting with the spoke design and lip.

For 22's, I like your wheels just the way they are now. really nice
If anything new, I would go smaller & wider . . & no spacers

I agrees with shadow the acs wheels look a little outdated. I love the look though with cor stripped down and clearcoated:good:

Yeah I say keep the same wheels you have now....they just look better...the spoke pattern and everything I think.

Like the guys said, the AC looks dated so it'll take some custom paint to get it look right. But that's what I'd pick IMO. I know it's against what the guys are saying but I value the proper setup and I see potential in it.

CORS on the other hand are too slim IMO.

FYI, powdercoating will NOT get you that color. That's a multi finish stage that require to you to high polish the wheels and then apply the translucent paint to get it right. That finish will prolly end up costing more than the wheels themselves. I know because I had that done to my 22" Rennens. ;)

Btw, why not get mine? :P

Spend the money that you would have spent on those wheels and the finish, to redo the inner/Outer barrels of your COR wheels. You can get those wheels to 10.5 or 11 if you want.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I will keep the COR wheels and redo the center. To be honest Type II is my favorite wheel design of all time, along with Alpina wheels, guess some part of me stuck in a 90's still:smile (2):. That 1 vote for Type II wheels was mine BTW:rotfl:

I was quoted $800 to do that finish and yes it will be a 2 stage process with translucent powdercoating. Your wheels unfortunately are out of my budget currently. I will need to sell COR's first, so I can buy your wheels, and it will probably take some time. It's really hard to sell high end wheels nowadays, but you probably know that already;)

Unfortunately I spent too much on these wheels already. All inner and outer barrels are new.

ACS are one of my favorite wheels of all time too, I am also stuck in the 90s. e36 and e39 are still the best looking BMW models in my book.
But I don't think that FX can pull those ACS off. Not gonna be as nice as other ones
