Plasti Dip

wheels, grills, emblems, even entire cars have been dipped here. Have fun with the DIY and post photos when you're done! :good:

I've plastidipped the wheels and emblems on my last 4 cars including my Cadillac Escalade 22's. Easy to use, easy to remove (if you put on several coats). I've had the wheels/emblems dipped on my M45S for about a year and it has held up very well through power washing and winter weather. Go for it and post pics! I'm wanting the do the 21's on the FX soon!

It works great, but on wheels, brake dust sticks to them like crazy. The surface is porous and the dust gets in there and can hardly be removed even with scrubbing. The best cleaning method I found was scrubbing, then spraying on some tire clean/shine foam. The spray is made for tires so I makes the plastidipped surface nice and shiny.

I've plasti-dipped emblems before, but never wheels. Definitely put 4-5 coats on so that it is easier to remove, adheres better, and covers the surface fully.

Tire spray is the plasti dip killer bro its really bad for it and ruins the adhesion it has on the surface, especially on the edges of the rim. It'll peel off way faster. Just hand wash the wheels(no power washers) and like others have said use a lot of coats and you should be fine.

Thanks for all the great advice...just ordered the sprays....il be applying at least 5 coats on each wheel. Would be my first plasti dip project. Wish me luck. il def post pics once its done.

I had the wheels dipped for 2 years, all the while using this process. They still look freshly dipped, (with no chips or peels) so tire spray doesn't harm the plastidip at all. I was just saying its hard to get the brake dust cleaned off.

I had my whole car plasdidipped . Looked ok... Only thing I hated and still hate is that it creeps into those spots you don't want it in when its time to peel off .

I use tire foam spray on mine (including the plasti dipped surface) every time I clean the vehicle and have had no ill effects. The brake dust and dirt in general gets on it and is hard to get it to look like new again so the tire foam makes it look great.

I even plastidipped my tires for the heck of it lol, and my shoe, dog, and my neighbors window.
Lol
all jokes aside plastidipped is probably easier to peel off on the car rather than the wheels, smh lol

cheap and fun. Easy to apply. Easy to fix mistakes. Perfect for budget modding. High recommended.

when i used plastidip in the past, the outcome was that it wasn't smooth and flat. When it dries, it looks clumped up and textured. is there a problem to solve it? I used the spray.

My experience agrees with fxlr8. I also noticed that if it is sprayed when the ambient air is too cool it won't settle smoothly. Also, a heat gun used on low right after can be used to induce smoother drying. However, the Dip will always have a textured, Matte finish. Good luck!
