Parking brake shoes?

Any recommendations on parking brake shoes? I'm going to attempt to do a full brake job. A Google search turned up some Centric brand parking brake shoes and some Raybestos brand. Should I just stick to OEM from infinitipartsusa.com? Newb to brakes so advice from members who have experience doing brakes would be appreciated. My parking brake seems to be weak in the sense that it doesn't hold as tight as it should when I apply it, hoping that replacing the parking brake shoes fixes the issue.

I'm a newb to brakes too, but can you not just tighten the parking brake cable?

^This.

You can adjust the emergency brake. It's a lifetime part, unless you start driving around with your e brake engaged there should be no need to replace the pads ever.

Ok thanks fellas. Now for the bigger question, how do I adjust my parking brake cable? I watched a few videos online and everything else looked straight forward. Hoping theres no surprises.

Just like adjusting the old drum brake. There is a rubber grommet plug on the rotor. Pry it off and stick a flat head screwdriver in to rotate the star-wheel adjuster upward to enlarge/expand the shoe. You will have to jack up both side of the rear wheel since you might have to rotate the rotor to find the star-wheel. I thought the parking brakes are self adjusting these days. Anyhow, I would suggest to take the rotor off and take a look at the wear on the shoe before any adjusting.

Reviving an old thread with a question. When adjusting the tension of the e brake do I need to put the gear on neutral?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeff!

I saw this link earlier but for some reasons when I click to open it gives me an error prompt with a message that "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."

Not sure if the original post was moved, archived or just view restricted.
