I just got the outside clears, and the guy gave me the red inside back up lights with it.( dont know what happened with the clear bu lights??) So now I have an extra set of red bu lights.

I was wondering how hard it could be to pull them apart and paint the inside? Since the outside plastic is clear, and the inside plastic is red, can't I just get some black spraypaint and paint the red?

I can't see this being too hard?? or is it? Or should I just breakdown and get the original clears from infinitiusa?

I searched and came up with nothing...

I think someone here did that - but had to cut them open.
Maybe it was Turbocad.....lemme see if I can find it.

The rears need to be dremeled open and resealed with some sort of epoxy or silicone.

yeah, from the factory the two halves (lens & inner housing) are glued togeather with something like crazy glue, they are bonded & fused togeather, not like the headlights that can be heated & pulled apart. you've got to cut them, but even after cutting there is red around the lip almost to the front of the lense. you've got to sand it down & clean the red off all around & then when you paint it & glue it back togeather you will see your whole glue edge, plus, you've got to space it out to make up for the clearance lost in the cut or the lens will be too recessed, so it's extremely difficult to do this & have it look good

if your only trying to make them look like or match the sports it's suicide to try & do this to the red ones, wouldn't even think about it, just buy a set, there not too expensive really, if you want to sell the red ones for cheap lmk & I'll buy them to play with. I've cut several apart already trying to perfect a technique, you will ruin a few before you get it to the pont that it'll be perfect though which is why I'm collecting them. if your really anxious to try cutting them open though lmk & I'll get you some pictures of it cut

Well the guy gave me both Headlights with bulbs no ballasts, clear outers, and red inners all for $225...not a bad deal if I do say so myself....

WOW sounds like WAY too much for me. I thought it was just heating them up and tearing them apart. No sense in destroying them, which is what will happen, I suck with a dremel.

Turbo I can send these and my originals for real cheap as soon as I get my clears in..

cool, I think the originals are 70 something dollars or so online? I'll give you $40 for the old pairs, goes for anyone else too, got any red inners laying around collecting dust I'll pay $20 a pair plus shipping:tongue: don't need too many though, 4-5 sets total would be nice, gonna chop them up anyway

the $225 for those was a pretty good deal, bout what it's worth. if he gave you sport headlights with the darker chrome inner bezels then you got a really good deal though, there a bit more rare & usually go for more than the reg chrome headlights

cool with me..Ill let you know when my new ones come in....I'm ordering now

Oh and headlights are just regular chrome....I'm planning on tearing these apart, polishing the outside plastic, painting the insides black, and with clear corners (just like Humberto)...then taking my originals and tearing those apart and doing a retro on my other car.
