painting front headlights

I have been wanting for some time now to paint or get painted, the inside of my headlights insted of smoking out the lense. Has anyone done this and is it worth doing yourself or getting it done somewhere???
 
i know a shop in the valley does great work mostly head lights and reasonable if you want i can pm you the shop? and there are some FX's here that have done it.
 
Thank you. I just am worried about not sealing it well and runing my light or having it look like crap. It would be an expensive mistake. thanks for the link!
 
You could always strip off the old sealant and reseal them after painting. Sometimes it's worth the extra money to get the job done right though. I know some people have had issues, and Dave has this weird spider web looking stuff in his lenses. :eek.:
 
Can you either PM me shop info too (SFV) or make a post so others can get this info...

I am having my front bumper changed - taken off on Monday so I have a very short window to get this done... they pull the bumper on Monday... order a replacement and an other replacement parts and then probably paint the bumper on Tuesday or Wednesday with reassembly on Thursday or Friday...
 
OP I see that you are in San Diego. Everything on my car has been done by Custom Auto Body (off of Convoy, on Raytheon... near Clairemont Mesa Blvd.). They are so good at what they do, and affordable. They don't open headlights there, but if you opened yours yourself, they could do some cool paint work inside. They spray tinted the front of my lenses with a black paint and clear coat mix so you can still see through to the inside and light still shines through, and they can spray them at any darkness.
 
it took them literally 24hrs cause i came in from va so it was a fri night into saturday evening and it cost 650 for painted housing and orb leds
 
mine are painted black inside, I swapped my old pair with some cash on top for the blacked out ones I would love to be able to do it myself but I can't have any downtime on my FX since its my daily

it seriously changes the whole look of the car well worth it to me
