Painted 18" Stock Rims?

I thinking about taking this project myself. Might go with the rattle can method. How can you paint around the center cap emblems? Do they pop off and I can re-apply them using something? Also the wheel weights are inside the rim correct? I think I might do it with the tires still on, but wrapped up.

You can remove the emblem with solder gun or similar, then you can glue it back together:
