P0300 Code

I'm In need of knowledge here. First off I drive a 07 FX35. I'm coming home from a trip last week and my CEL starts flashing and immediately start losing power and drifting to a stop. Once I'm stopped a little bit of smoke came thru the cabin. So I get it towed home and hook it up to a code reader and get a P0300 code which I researched is a multi cylinder misfire. So cranking up at home its running very sluggish and a horrible idle and I'm noticing little metal honeycomb looking pieces coming out of my exhaust. Ive been told it was my cats but I'm thinking there's another problem going on under the hood. Any help would be appreciated.

Multiple misfire leads to too much gas into the cat and the cat got burnt up. Didn't experience it in a FX, but in a Mazda Tribute.
