Ordering parts from G or Z or both?

Hi iS,

I'm a FX newbie, but not new to the scene, I've seen many of the members here with modded FX's. Do you find yourself ordering Z parts or G parts in order to fit them into your FX? I understand that the FX utilizes the same chassis as the G, so from that statement should I be focused on looking at G catalogues? Thank in advance and sorry for the newb question.

most engine parts are the same, and the exhaust are the same and just need to be extended in the back and @ the Y if you are AWD.(for the Z's)
for the G's, engine stuff the same but not all exhausts work out.
and obv. braces and stuff do not fit.

that should sum it up haha

Most suspension pieces will NOT fit.

Most exhaust pieces WILL fit, with slight modifications. Exhausts need to be slightly extended usually at the tips and either one of the following: two extensions just after the catalytic converters, pushes the Y pipe back farther to clear the AWD tranny, or if on a RWD FX, you can extend once in the mid-pipe.

Intake plenum, throttle body, injectors, headers... most of those are direct swaps between FX35, G35 and 350Z.

Intakes are different and you should get an FX35 specific one, they're not very expensive at all.

Superchargers for the most part fit (Stillen, for example) and turbo kits usually require a little bit of adaptation (intercooler and associated piping cannot be the same).

good info. can i ask what suspension you guys are running?

Makes sense that the FX/G/Z share an engine & drivetrain, but that's where the similarities end in terms of sharing parts.

Suspension mods are a little different. We have bracing - GTSpec makes a full compliment of braces (five of them), while Stillen, NRG, StrongStrut, and maybe one or two others make a strut tower brace.

Most FXs use either Eibach or H&R springs.

There are a couple different coil-over options as well, but none are common or proven. Check the threads here on IS to check on coil-over options. Most of them seem to be in development stages, but kits should be available soon.
