Hey Guys, So I think my power steering pump is starting to go to the shits. A new pump from the dealer is pretty expensive so I found several website that offer OEM remanufactured power steering pumps. These sell anywhere from under 200 to over 250 pending which supplier you go with. My question is if I have to get one from the stealership then so be it but if I can save money even better. what do you guys think about these "remanufactured pumps" are they worth it or should I just bite the bullet and get brand new?

i wouldnt get remanu they tend to be noisy. I bought mine from a nissan/infiniti wreck yard for 200 bucks amd that included pully. My suggestion either buy a used one or get a new one

I agree, new one or used as last resort. Did you consider rebuilding the pump yourself?

Anyway, just make sure it is really the pump that needs replacement. Examples: a worn out "cracked" engine belt causes steering noise and steering wheel vibration. Old PS fluid that lost all its properties causes hard steering .... etc.

Check this out, for your 2004 FX45, this is listed at infinitipartsusa for like16$:

SEAL KIT POWER STEERING PUMP Part Number: 49591-0C028

The manual details removal/installation disassembly/assembly which can help in installing this kit, i went quickly through it, it looks like an easy job but not quick. I am actually considering it myself!

I truly believe that, this is how after marketers are "remanufacturing" things.
