Old rotor new pads?

Hey guys, if you put new pads on an old pretty beat up rotor... it would lead to them eating the pads faster correct?

And if doing a rotor swap, pads MUST be changed because the old pads will eat the rotor?

Thanks!

Ideally, you want to have a clean surface on the rotor when installing new pads, whether its machining or replacing, the latter being the best option.
When changing rotors, if the pads are good, they can just be sanded down so the surface is fairly smooth.
Installing pads on an old rotor with an old surface usually leads to squeaking noises and reduced braking efficiency.
Hope that helps!
