odd gear change timing

So, I've had my FX45 for about a month now. I really love the truck. But there is something that's bothering me. Gear changes (in "D" full automatic) from first to second is not bad, but from second to third is rather quick and sudden. Any thoughts about that? Is this common? Can the ECU be reprogramed/flashed or something to extend the amount of time the truck is in second gear?

Is is really a truck you say?

Reset the ECU & drive it hard. FX has a logic/learning ECU that controls the shift points. Sounds like your ECU is stuck in grandma mode. You can get the ECU flashed so it always stays in an aggressive map. I dont think there's anything wrong with your CAR.

I call the FX a truck... so does Maryland Motor Vehicle Administation... but that'll be another discussion :tonguey:

As for the ECU, how do I go about reseting it?

mine does the same thing. the car is already on 5th gear when the speed is only 30 mph. if i reset the ecu and drive aggressively, i assume the gas mileage will go down as well correct?

not necessarily, when you reset the ECU it goes back to the learning phase where it adjusts the air/fuel ratio according to the throttle position to maximize combustion until it reaches the desired level. we are not saying floor it all the damn time but only during the first few drives.
