OBD code P0037 - Oxygen Sensor

Hi! This is my first real post...I have been searching and can't find anything on this subject.

Last week my engine misfired and I had all the coil packs and plugs replaced. Now, I'm getting code P0037 - which I know can be a few things related to the O2 sensors. Does anybody know how to diagnose the code further without swapping every O2 sensor/heater on the car? I'm also wondering if the heater is not part of the sensor unit itself...

I'm trying to avoid thrashing my car but it seems to be running fine and the SES is steady. I'm wondering if I can't go for a little bit longer without fixing this. There are no emissions tests here so if it's an O2 sensor downstream (at or past the catalytic converter) is this a problem for me? Other than having environmentally unfriendly exhaust?

Thanks for the help - I actually joined bc I read up a bunch on coil packs from other users issues last week and it was a HUGE help!

Also: 2007 FX35 RWD ~72K miles

Thanks!

...that's my problem: it could be any of those 4 things and I'm not sure how to go about diagnosing it further. And while it could be a ground or fuse, it seems too coincidental that after a misfire it's not just the whole thing that's bad...

Check the fuse first then move on to inspecting the harness and O2 sensor connection. If you don't find anything change the sensor.

Thanks... ended up much much worse.

Engine misfired again on the highway and fouled the coilpacks again. Dealer wants my left arm, and left leg for 6 new coil packs, battery cables and grounds. I will probably fix it minimally and trade it somewhere... so much for the FX forums! :(

Not sad to say I would like a little better gas mileage but this car is such a s3x-machine I'm gonna miss it for sure.

Plugs get fouled, not coil packs.

Have your FX repaired properly, please. The "fix it minimally and trade it somewhere" mentality is probably what got you into this situation in the first place. End the cycle!

Well now my cats and ECM are "fouled"... you're welcome to buy it or fix it for me if you have a better mentality.

" I'm wondering if I can't go for a little bit longer without fixing this " This is why a small problem becomes a big one and to just fix it minimally only makes it someone else's problem when you get rid of it. I agree with tchuck END THE CYCLE.

Bank 1 starts with cylinder 1, so passenger side. Sensor 1 and 2 should be the first and second O2 sensor, on either side of the cat.

Hey guys I just yesterday replaced both 02 sensors on the cats code p0037 and p0057 is still popping up. Any help is appreciated.

They have front and rear sensors along with left and right banks. So hopefully u replaced the right one.

Also just because u have a oxygen sensor fault doesn't mean u need to replace it. That's the downfall of normal people having code readers. Sometimes they jump to conclusions. You could have like an exhaust leak before your cats or a bad cat as well.

If ur code reader can read voltage check all 4 o2 sensor data stream and rev up the car to see if one is flatlining or slower then others.

I replaced the ones on the cat themselves not before the cats. I know the one on the passengers side was bad because it blew out of the cat bung I soldered it but apparently it didn't do the trick. I'm guess I'm gonna check for exhaust leaks before the cats if not I'll buy a set of test pipes or just replace my other two o2 sensors. But code p0037 p0057 is the one after the cat no.

How are the connections? If you blew one out of the cat, was it dragging? Could the cats themselves be bad which would cause the O2 sensors to fail? If the cats are healthy, I don't see an O2 sensor being blown out.

The connections are tight. As far as where the 02 sensors threads onto the cat I got it rewelded. I hit a nice bump on the bridge and the 02 sensor was dragging. Brought the hfc of a member here the cnt brand ones forgot who it was. If it was the cats wouldn't it throw the code for those too. Just want to confirm that the cel I get is the ones on the cat before I start buying other stuff I don't need
