Long time automobile enthusiast. Numerous ground up restorations (VWs, MGs, Triumphs, Fiats, Alfa Romeos, Porsches,) under my belt. I still help owners with exotic cars diagnose and occasionally repair their cars, but since downsizing to a modest sized home, I mostly perform maintenance on my vehicles. I always admired and wanted an FX45, and I found a one-owner, low mileage car last year. It is an out-of-state car so needed a replacement NOX cat (the unmonitored downstream cat) to meet EO authority compliance in CA. Primary (exhaust manifold) cats need replacing, now. I also own a wire-wheel, MGB roadster and early 911. No cats on the MG, but replaced both cats on the 911 last year. They were an easy two-hour procedure but I suspect the FX45 cat replacement will required more effort. I need advice on the procedure. Can it be performed with engine in the car?
