Guys, this arrived today in mail. Of course I'll be using it in the inverted "rise" position, opposite of what is shown in this photo. First, that picture above does not do this piece justice. It is beautiful... fantastic finish and a nice weight to it. Wouldn't be out of place on the Thanksgiving dinner table. Hard to believe a towing ball mount can look so pretty.

So I took this work of art out to the FX. Was worried that perhaps it would rise too quickly from the rear and end up just hitting the bumper. Nope. It fits and looks perfect. I'll get some pics tomorrow and may hook up the boat too. This will be the go-to piece for future FX boat owners going down this path.

For $64 shipped from Amazon (prime), this piece fits perfectly and is a steal.

Several comments:

- Can't imagine running anything other than the OEM harness. The interior wiring takes some time, but is pretty easy. The exterior wiring is set up for the OEM hitch, not the Curt. The Curt doesn't have the mounting holes for the plug bracket nor does it have the little holes/inserts to run the exterior wiring through.

- Because the Curt hitch isn't optimized for the OEM hitch, I would probably buy the OEM hitch if I were a guy that were looking for a complete towing setup. (I wonder how much more it is though...).

- I ended up zip-tying the electrical plug just above the hitch, having it sorta wedged betweed the hitch and underside of bumper. I could not figure out a good permanent mount and I'll see how this holds up and may just leave it. It is zip-tied with 4 ties, and if I had black zip ties it would hide so much better. As is, it really isn't obvious, even sitting in my car behind the FX. If you get low enough and close enough, you can see it isn't as professional as it ought to be.

I have the same hitch setup as you and I'm currently working with a machine shop to fab me a bracket, i'll post my results. I may be able to get them to fab 2 if you're interested. I really like the wiring bracket Infiniti provided so i'd really like to use it. BTW, how are the zip ties holding up? I still have my wiring coiled up behind my rear passenger wheel well, can you say lazy!!!

I guess I never updated the thread. Curt hitch customer service came through big time. I called to complain about rattling/loose hitch in the Curt receiving tube. Andy at customer service said they are working on tightening the tolerances, and he would be happy to send me their hitch and anti-rattle kit. He shipped it all to me at not cost and it has been fantastic!

As for the zip ties, I was planning on revisiting that but I forgot about them and they have held up just fine. In fact, the FX45 is towing my boat on a week long road trip beginning tomorrow. ;)
