New Audi Q5

The upcoming Q5 looks like a great little crossover. The 3.2 FSI will provide good performance (mid 6s) and decent fuel economy. It's going to display the usual Audi traits - best interior in the industry, built like a tank, safe, and exceptional Quattro performance in the snow and wet. I'm sure the ride will lend itself more towards luxury than sport though.

My only gripe with it is that the exterior design is pretty damn bland imho. And I am waiting to see if Audi use the interior space well and give rear occupants some actual room. The B8 platform should address this I believe. However with that said, NOTHING is worse than the new EX35 when it comes to rear legroom, that's just appalling. No wonder it's not selling!

Anyways I'm looking forward to test driving one of these when they come out. My wife was very interested in the EX35 until she saw the rear space. She is now leaning towards a 09 FX35, but she wants to wait and check out the new Q5 before she commits. We have a 06 Audi A4 2.0TQ and it's been a great car (APR stg2 helps!) so she wants to see the Audi in the flesh before making a decision.

Any thoughts on the Q5?

Yeah it does. I actually think the RDX has more character. I can't believe I just said that about an Acura. :4tongue:

ps: I saw the pics of your car. I'm not usually a fan of the whole big wheel thing but your FX looks awesome. Those wheels are sick and certainly work well with the car. Very nice mate.

Ah, glad you like my FX. My wheels are not big. They are 22's, not 24's.

I like it. It almost looks like the FX 1st gen. At least when I was on the site and looked at the S-line, it had a mean look to it. Specs have it about the same size as the FX35 (just about 7in smaller in length) but everything else is just about the same. I would buy this car but it all depends when I see one in person. Don't have an Audi dealer on Guam, but I'm going to check it out when I get back stateside.
 
Well I guess you all agree that it's a knock off Touareg, but that can also be said about a lot of other manufactures that have more than one line of cars...hint Murano, Armada. Personally I think the Q7 looks more like the VW.

Anyway. I still think it not a bad looking car.

Not trying to change anyone's opinion here but I think this car will grow on some people. I love my FX35, but if I had a chance at getting this one I would.

I personally like the Q5's looks, esp in black. My biggest gripe is the transmission it has. We have the same auto tranny in my gf's touareg and it sucks big time. Never ever felt anything more inconsistent and laggy.. Also, I'd personally like it more if they had offered the 2.0T engine. The Q5 with a nicely modded 2.0T would be pretty good IMO. Oh and you have to lower it..

Thinking about it, the 09 FX35 needs some good mods to make it look and sound good as well so I think they're in the same league in that perspective..
