I have the Q70L.
My wife lose her her key. I need to buy one for her.
anybody knows how much the dealer will charge for the key and program it?
or how much the local lock smith will do it?
please give me an idea.

Thanks

You can find them on eBay cheaper. Just make sure the key is unlocked with an uncut key blade. It is very important the ICC ID marches your other key otherwise it will not work. Take it to the dealer to reprogram.

I took this route on my wife's new QX60.

how much did the dealer charge to program the key from outside?

They usually charge around $200. Mine was free as it was a pre owned vehicle purchase and they agreed to program it for free.

You can get a Nissan dealership to program it for you for less. It's funny how the same service can cost 20% less from Nissan simply because they don't carry the tag "luxury' on their vehicles. Infiniti and Nissan share a lot of parts and service programming. For instance Infiniti quoted me $1350 plus taxes to have them install an OEM hitch but Nissan did it for me for $600 with the same parts used.

I totally agree. If you look at the hourly rates of the service techs in Infiniti vs Nissan dealerships, there's a big difference in rates. Even though... most of the parts are the same. However, I have to admit though, the overall service by Infiniti people is by far better than Nissan.
It's like comparing fine dining with causal dining. You do get what you pay for. Good thing I do my own maintenance.:)

Unfortunately the nearest Infiniti dealership in my area had a bunch of incompetent tools in their roster. My first 5 oil changes with them shortly after relocating here in Houston the managed to screw up. Small stupid details missed such as panel push clips not replaced. A friggin oil cap left in my engine bay, a rag left in the engine bay and so many others that gets my blood boiling.

I now do my own oil changes and when I need service that I have no expertise, I'd take my vehicle to another Infiniti which is about 40miles from my place or to a trusted Nissan dealership near me who has a reputation for great service.

I did my key yesterday and it was 143 for the key programmed from the dealer, another key I had didn't work, so make sure its a key that matched your truck. Btw Canadian dollars lol
