Need some servicing opinions

Hey all,

I am looking to have my front/rear rotors and brake pads replaced and also have my transmission fluid drained-filled. Took my car to Nissan earlier today and was surprised with an $1100 estimate. I understand these repairs are generally costly but I just can't make sense of paying that much. Now I am trying to buy parts online/from a store, and either perform the services myself or take it someplace to just have the parts put in- just paying labor costs.

I need help in deciding what sort of rotors and brake pads to buy. My dad is saying to buy OEM rotors but I am wondering if there are any others that will work just as well if not better with my fx.
I have found some brake pads online at Advance Auto Parts- there is a good deal on some front/rear Wagner ThermoQuiet Ceramic brake pads. I read that ceramic ones are better to have versus the other standard types. Thoughts?

Also about the transmission fluid, the dealer and my boyfriend both told me that I should only use the Nissan/Infiniti transmission fluid. I think it is the Idemitsu ATF type-J. My dad also warned against using other brands/types from auto stores or repair shops. Is that really the only type of fluid that can be used in this car? With all the random service shops everywhere I assumed any quality brand fluid could work as long as it is compatible with the fx, unless of course the Idemitsu is the only compatible fluid...

Sorry about all the questions, it's my first time really handling my car servicing on my own so I want to make sure I do it right. Any and all comments/opinions are welcome! I could use all the help I can get at this point, because I really cannot decide what to do regarding these parts. I looked at a bunch of forums on these topics and reviews etc. but tbh all that just further confused me :disapointed:

HELP! and thanks for reading lol

CAR: 2006 Infiniti FX35 AWD

Stealer pricing! If you're by me, I'll charge a quarter of that, LOL.

I highly recommend Akebono ProACT (front ACT888, rear ACT905) brake pads as they're quiet and very little brake dust. No experience with rotors. I'm sure other will charm in on the rotors.

I prefer to use factory trans fluid. Many have use Mobil, Redline, or Royal Purple. They all works just fine.

Agreed.

Funny g35 rear pads are the same as fxs

lol, I was in shock hearing that price believe me.

Thanks for the recommendation! I have definitely been reading a lot of good things about Akebono, I'll look into them! Any thoughts on Power Stop OEK Ceramic?

For the trans fluid, I decided to go with the Nissan Matic S. After researching online I just didn't want to risk anything and went with the factory fluid lol. I bought 11qt from the dealer after seeing the capacity was close to that and took it to my local mechanic earlier today but I noticed he only used 4qt. Was he not supposed to drain the entire thing?

Much better experience on Centric Parts rather than Powerstop, for both pads and rotors. Check out "axle pack" which is all rotors and pads in one box.
