Hey guys! Ok, so I just got a 2005 Infinity fx35 with the sports, tech, and touring packages as an early 16th birthday present and am really looking forward to do some mods and upgrades. After finding a subwoofer (JL Audio 12W0v2-4: 12 inch **which is already enclosed in a box**)just collecting dust in my garage from my dad's old BMW, I had decided that the first thing I want to do is to install it. The Bose system I have now is in no means bad at all considering it's stock, I just want a bit more boom. After doing a bit more research and asking around I soon realized that I'd have to purchase an amp which is no big deal, but it just left me puzzled with a bunch of unanswered questions. One of which was 'Is it possible to have my stock sub (the one were the spare tire is) and an aftermarket sub both working?' Then if I can have them both, do I have them both powered by the new amp that i'm getting? Another thing I was hoping I'd be able to do is replace my head unit, but from what I've read I'm unable to since I have navigation and in order to replace it I'd have to replace the whole unit. Last but not least, is there any other mods/upgrades you would recommend for me to do to make my FX look even more bad ass? I don't get my license for a few months so I have plenty of time to do whatever mods I'd like.

Thanks in advanced, Alex

First, it looks like you have the correct ohm load which is good. Next, you are going to want to run the factory sub separate from the aftermarket sub. If you want to run the stock sub with the aftermarket one, you are going to need to splice into the wires instead of cutting into them on the stock plug on the stock sub. Look at the bose wiring diagram in the 04-08 wiring section. Learn the colors you are going to need to splice into, the speaker level input and the remote turn on. You will have to run power and ground wires from the battery though. Make sure you use a fuse too. I think there is a photographed install with instructions on another site.
