No, going with 22" does not have to be lowered. Lowering it complete the look and improve the handling more due to lower the center of mass. You should go with 22"

No issue with 22x8.5. Just a bit narrow/skinnier tires that most of us would preferred. There enough tires in 265/40R22 on market, so you should be good there.

Ok I will probably go with:

Falken Wheels RT-7M 22 X8.5 5-114.3 35 OffSet
Yokohama Parada Spec-X 265/40R-22 XL

See any issues with this setup ? Going to cost me an extra $400 to go 22 vs 20 but looks like that's the way to go for appearance.
As long as the comfort is not over sacrificed I'd be happy especially if handling improves.
The wife has 45 profile tires on the TL. Has anyone had major issues with 40 profile with wheel damage or bending? Bring back memories on my IS300 with 18's and low profiles
Should I go wider tires ?

I have no problem with comfort when I was on 40 series with my 22". To be honest, 22 x 8.5 is a bit to narrow in that size wheel for me. As long as you're happy with them, it all that matter! Yoko Prada Spec-X has been proven on here. Good choice!

Yeah I read, pages and pages of thumbs up on the Yoko's
I guess I am OK as long as the wheel fits and looks ok. It;s .5 inch bigger than 20 sports right ? I don't have a reason to go much wider tires, not racing my car or anything. Is there anyone else makes this rim cheaper ? or close in price? I like the style, there has only been a few wheels that I've actually liked for the FX.
