Navigation change to europe map

He guys,

For some weeks i am enjoying my recently bought 09 FX50S.
Thing is, the car was imported from the US to the Netherlands from new.
At that time it was not possible to replace the US map to a european version.

At the moment there is an additional navigation system installed that uses the dash screen, i can change over the video input to the navigation and back.
This navigation is getting outdated and even the most recent update is from 2010 so no point really spending money on updating this.
To get something more recent i will have to replace the complete navigation unit for a newer model, putting me down a lot of money, which might be better invested on an update of the cars system if possible.
As far as my search went i did not find any useful information about if this is possible or not, but does anyone know if it is still not possible to change out the US map for a european one anno 2015?

As this navigation is hard drive based it's hard to believe this is not possible to change.
i've read some stuff that went as far as removing the unit, soldering around and somehow get the car to accept the modified navi unit.
I don't want to go that far to get this changed but hopefully there is a more sensible way of doing this.

Anybody any thoughts?

Do you have a Garmin GVN53 installed as secundary? I have ('08 FX35, also imported from the US), and i can provide you with recent firmware and maps. Otherwise: Good luck with your search for replacement or addidtional maps! Will be difficult i guess if i read all comments on the web about this (not only for Infiniti).

No it's not a Garmin, can't remember the brand just now and i am not at home.
Thx anyway for the offer.

I'll keep searching and hopefully i can use the cars navi but if not i will have to find an upgrade

I found it again, it's a Alpine NVE-N099P navigation module, upgrade i am looking at is a newer version, the NVE-M300P.
This will put me down around 500 euro, was hoping to spend it on changing the onboard navigation.
