NAV Update / Second Gen FX

I received an e mail from Infiniti offering a NAV update for only $99. It indicates that after I buy it I will get a password / code to take to my dealer and they will install it for me? I am guessing that they will charge me for pushing one button on a computer?
Being I live in the ATL area I am wondering how much has been added for this area on the update, any local ATL folks that have updated their NAV have any comments as to whether it is worth $99 or not?
 
Dealer will actually upload the update to your vehicle and it takes a while. Wife's 2008 M updates this way, while my 2011 FX requires 5 DVD's sent to me and I do the work. I update both every other year. I'm in Cobb County and use Nalley Infiniti in Marietta (Darren Thomas). They charge a little over $100 (in addition to what you pay for the code). Expensive, but worth it to me.

Flyingcolonel, thanks. I am in Sugar Hill and have purchased 5 Infinities at Infiniti of Gwinnett. I am suprised to hear that you need to load 5 X DVD's to update your NAV. I wonder what my '09 needs? DVD's or just a password that I would receive when paying for the update on line? $100 for the update and $100 for the dealer to install seems quite pricey. As I am retired and dont go to many new destinations anymore so I am going to pass on this update.
 
2009 is code + dealer install through CF slot. DVD update began in 2010. Amount of new info per update is dependent upon the cartography data NAVTEQ uses. Experience says a new road takes 2 years to show up. The update also brings the POI info more current, which I find helpful when traveling. I'm retired as well, so our traveling is purely recreational. The FX is our 3rd Infiniti - wife has '08 M35, I had '07 M35, now '11 FX35. Guess I'm hooked...

Nope. Only dealer can get the file and upload it to your vehicle. Got to pay for the code online, then pay the dealer to do the install. Just the way it works for all 09's.
 
So what's the map update procedure on the 2010 FX?
Can I update myself once I get the new DVD's from Navteq or do I still have to pay the stealer to update?
 
Dealer is not involved with 2010+. Takes 30 min or so to load all the DVD's and the engine has to be running. I just sit in the driveway and read a book on iPad.

$99 (if it also includes install) is a good deal, I got a letter from Infiniti saying I could update my 2010 for a "special price" of $179, which is $70 off the normal price of $249.99. I'd never pay $180, but if I could get it for $100 installed I might consider it
 
You ain't getting a 2010 for $99, bobby. Read all the way from the top down - the $99 deal was for the code for a 2009, plus the dealer install. Your 2010 is just like my 2011, and you can either pay or do without. I've been at this a long time - you just can't find a back door for NAVTEQ.

First of all I wasn't looking for a "back door deal". Second, I didn't realize there was a different method (and price) for updating nav maps from a 2009 (first year of new body style) and 2010+ (when nav became HD). When I saw someone say they got an offer for upgrading their maps for $99, I didn't understand why it was going to cost $179 for my 2010. I realize I can either "pay or do without" as you so eloquently put it, so you could have simply pointed out it was a different method and price from 2009 and 2010, with starting in 2010 it being much more expensive, without the snark comment.
 
My nav system it auto updates from time to time it is an aftermarket one called ROSEN the only draw back is with that nav system you lose half inch on top and bottom and side ways to
