Missing clips for hood struts

New hood struts are $78+ from what I've seen... but the thing is, all I'm missing is the clips that hold it into place.

For example: if I lift the hood up to where the struts should stop and basically lock the hood up, the hood continues to go up and the struts just come unlatched and fall down.

iMotion's hood struts weren't doin the job anymore and he had them replaced, but that was a year ago. I COULD have gotten the clips from his busted ones, but that was almost a year ago and who keeps broken parts for a year?

Can anybody think of a creative solution that I haven't?

Viet how much are the NRG struts if you can recall off the top of your head...?

The nrg hood struts are great! I have had no issues with them and its been about a year now. I think Randy still has some in his garage. I forgot how much they were.

How long do the stock struts last? Or did you guys just change them out for looks?

I just changed them out for looks. The chrome looked a lot cleaner.

Did you swap the clips over to the new struts? What'd you do with the OEMs?

Posted this in the wanted ad I put up, but remembered this thread...

Are these the struts? And if so, will they fit with ours directly? Did you have to rivet anything or modify anything in order to use those hood struts Doc?

Yes, I do believe that those are the same struts. But I can't recall exactly if the the nrg strut came with new mounting clips or it used new ones. I think rookie would probably know for sure.

I got chrome NRG hood struts from a my350z.com vendor for $100 shipped. Supposedly they open higher than stock, and they add a lil bit of bling

I haven't installed them yet though, I wonder where they are...

I checked out these for a quick sale and then looked up the NRG so I'll probably have two pair in the end. thanks fellas for the assistance on the hood struts. I need them, because mine went out the other day.

I did a quick search and I didn't see an answer to my question. Instead of creating a new thread, I'll ask it here. So a hood damper from a 350Z or a G35 works for an 2004 FX35 correct? I think my hood damper blew out because the hood won't stay up. I want to get my car detailed by a local detailer but I don't want him to have to find something to hold the hood up. Thanks in advance.
