Missed oil change causing engine damage?

so I did my first oil change at 19000km after driven for about a year and a half, brought the car to Infiniti for service oil change and they said my oils were dirty/dark, they did a hot engine flush and oil change. I’m at 27k now and my engine is done, Infiniti told me to pay for the engine due to missing oil change at 8000km. Does that sound right ?
 
Unless you can show them that you performed oil changes outside of the dealership (via receipts) then yeah that is right.

Is there any reason why you didn't do one? You don't really even need to jack the vehicle up. Just drain and refill at a minimum.
 
I doubt it that your Engine is actually done. Are there weird noises? Also what is a hot engine flush?
 
Agreed, just missing that amount of oil changes would not normally bust a motor. Did you have a leak and it run low? Did they do a compression test? Any metal in the oil? What made them come to the determination that the motor is toast?
