I'm considering the mesh grille for an FX50.
The current grille is plastic and unique.
I never liked the bendy "bad dentist" FX50 plastic grille. It seemed aerodynamically noisy while not filtering the air. I preferred the EX' bars. I also prefer cars with no badges.
Here is the dual grille replacement. Here it is debadged. Here is how effective the OEM grille is, and here's the chrome grille on a white infiniti.
I just saw a photo of the Ford Model A though, so I'm reconsidering. Maybe chrome is an outmoded symbol of status rather than a better material, and the FX50 has a postmodern surreal techno-reconception of what a grille is.
I'm told chrome chips with rocks, and there's lots in my area. I'm also told that a mesh grille protects the radiator from the rocks better than plastic. I'm not worried about the price, only functionality and appearance.
Opinions on this idea? Or just words you'd associate with OEM or chromed aluminum grille? (plasticy, vulgar, mismatched, luxury, unnecessary, obsolete, unique...), Cheers, thanks
