Maintenance reminders

So whats the deal with the maintenance reminders....

I have a 2009 and there is a reminder you would reset for oil, oil filter, tire rotation, etc in the speedometer section, but then basically the same thing is in the Media Center Nav. What's the point of having to do it or have reminders in both sections? Am I missing something that Infiniti was trying to do here?

Also, mine in the Media Center says Reminder 1, 2, 3, 4. When I took a loaner 2010 G37x, I noticed in the Media Center instead of "Reminder 1" it had "Oil" in the first spot, Oil filter in the second, tire rotation in the 3rd, etc. Almost as if the Reminder 1 name was updated to Oil, etc. Was this a new feature in 2010, or can I update the names on my 2009 to say something better than Reminder 1,2,3,4?

What do you have your reminders set to? :)
 
There's two sections for the maintenance reminders on purpose. The one in the spedometer is specifically for engine oil, tire rotation, and oil filter.

Now the one's on the navigation you can customize and set them for things like micro cabin filter, engine air filters, and other things like that. It's really whatever you want. Everytime I go in for an oil change the dealer resets the reminder for me.
 
Oh gotcha! What do you have yours set for and how do you change the name of the Reminders to what you want like micro cabin filter, etc? I haven't been able to figure that out from the screen or manual.:confused.:
 
I don't think you can change the way it's named. I was thinking about this too cause it's kind of annoying trying to remember which is which. I'm going to ask the dealer next time I'm there. I only have my reminder's set to engine filters, and micro cabin filter. The other two I don't use.
 
Next time I go in I'll ask as well. The 2010 G37x definitely has in the Media Center different names instead of Reminder 1,2,3,4...I'm not sure if in 2010 they just moved it from the speedometer section over to media Center or what and I didn't check to see if I could rename it, but all I remember is that it wasn't named just reminder 1,2,3,4. So when asking the question and if they just reply no right away, I would ask well what is up with the 2010 G37x and why those appear different.
