So recently after I start up my car and turn on the A/C shortly after a loud humming sound is heard and when I step on the accelerator the car feels like its weak on power. I usually turn it off right away and after a minute I turn it back on and everything is normal. What could be causing this??

I would start it up without the AC on just to eliminate the compressor to see if that makes a difference with the noise.

It's always been a habit for me to turn off the A/C before turning off the car to try and keep the life of the compressor as long as i can. So, it's never on when I start the car but only happens when I turn on the A/C.

I do the same thing turning off the A/C a mile or two before I get home but for a second reason, let some of the condensate dry off the evaporator and air ducts which reduces that musty smell you get when you re start the car and the blower starts moving air again.

When my ac is on i get a little humming noise too, nothing loud but noticeable. I always thought the fx felt a little sluggish when the ac was on too. Just thought this was normal

Mines gets really sluggish and feels like i have only 1/2 my horsepower LOL. But i just turn it off for a minute and turn it back on and my car is all good. Its just so annoying to do it all the time...

AC compressor is going to cause extra load on the system, one more thing for the engine to turn. But if you got WOT, it will disengage so you're not losing power then. If it's really sluggish, I'd suspect that something is going bad, likely the compressor or the clutch. It's weird that turning it off and turning it back on would fix it though. Have you checked all the relays to the AC?
