Lossing MPG

I have a stock 08 fx35 and always pump 91 octane and i was getting anywhere from 17-19 mpg but only recently it has dropped down to 14-15 mpg. Driving is mix with fwy and local street driving. Driving habit has not changed. Regular oil change and tire rotation. K&N drop in filter has been clean as well, not sure why my MPG is slowly going lower and lower. Any thoughts?

I am at 50K miles. I have not done any maintenance besides regular oil change. I was looking into doing the recommended maintenance at 52K or the 60K one. So could it be I just need maintenance work done? Just weird that within 1 month period, my MPG would drop so much and so fast.

Check tire pressure maybe. I would reinstall K&N to make sure there are no leaks or overlooked a step the first time around.

Thanks for reminding me. I just put on 20" Axis rims on the car and have not gotten an alignment yet. I was on 18" and now I am on 20". I put on the 20"s a little less than 2 months and the PSI i am running all around are 34. I check the filter like 3 times so I am pretty confident that its not that. So would the change of rooms make me loose MPG that much. I was at 15.2 last week and just check yesterday, I was at 14.7 MPG.

So are you concerned about a .5 change? Because that is nothing. I'm usually at 13-15 mpg.

I am concern because I was at 17-19 and now I am at 14-15. So changing out to 20" is the culprit? If that is the case, I am fine with it. I just was afraid it might be engine related, that's all.

I hope that is the case, just wasn't sure and figure I ask the IS folks....

It's Axis Orden, bought them off of Mtbfx awhile ago, just finally got around to putting them on now.

Could be a number of things. Did your gas station switch to higher count of ethanol, because that will decrease mpg for sure. While on vacation I ran two tanks of 93 ethanol free and was getting 19 to 21 in my FX45 with mixed driving. It is back down to 17 to 19 now that I am home and have no access to ethanol free gas. I do my share of hammer down driving as well. I say that because they are trying to up the count of ethanol and have in some states from 10% or less to 15% or less. I also have the stock 20" wheels on my 04 with 50,103 miles on it.
Something to consider if nothing else.

also you said you did not get a wheel alighment yet. Can chip away at MPGs (and tires)
