looking for winter tires-help on dimensions

Hi guys, new around here and hope to get some help to make my choice for winter tires easier.:)

Driving an FX35 -2007, currently on original 265/50/20 all-season tire-rim combination.
Looking now for winter tires for better performance.
Driving in central Europe- mild winters with wet/ice roads but also hitting mountain roads with snow.

Can someone advise what other tire dimension would fit the original rims I have now?
265/50/20 is not easy to find around here.
Also, what brand might suit better considering the driving conditions specified?
I've heard 255/50/20 might work.can someone confirm?

10 mm smaller tire, but it will work.

Now sure what is available in your country, but Blizzak are really good and so are Hankook iPike W11 in 265/50/20.

For 255/50/20 - Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow or Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60.
 
Cool, the Pirelli's will last longer on highway and high speed, but the Blizzaks are better in snow/ice. I think Pirelli's are best for you.

Are those available in your country?
 
This is what I have around. The blizzaks are also available.
quite pricey all of them in Europe(Austria). will go around 1200-1400 euro

Just my opinion:
1) Blizzak - I had these and they are the BEST in snow and ice. But they are very soft so wear out faster and louder tire noise.

2) Pirelli - best for highway driving, good on snow, decent on ice.

3) vredestein - i heard of these being good, but don't know much about them.

4) Yoko - they always make a good tire in my opinion, but never heard of these.

5) continental - good tire, expensive typically, so never my tire of choice.

Pirelli looks like no brainer to me. Proven brand, proven tire. You cannot go wrong.
