Hey guys, my boss has asked me to keep an eye out for a suv for him. Would love to hear some recommendations
These are his requirements
-trunk space for 2 hockey bags
-awd /4x4 for winter
-decent on gas
-tow a camper trailer (2500lbs dry)
- under 15k

the cars that come to mind were
-Toyota 4runner
-acura mdx ( if he wants to pay premium..)
-chevy tahoe / gmc yukon
-nissan pathfinder

If it's for a beatdown duty work and to cargo ppl around town, 4Runner. I have a friend who use the living life out of it and still strong after 8yrs.

For pure utility and performance, get the Nissan pathfinder pre 2013 model. The older model is known for engine reliability, brute force in towing and good 4x4 capabilities that can do off roading tasks. The 2013 and up models are on CVT transmission. Designed more for comfort family haulers with decent towing capability. It's got better tech features but not the rugged 'take me anywhere'' utilitarian capability. Though the latter had excellent mpg and refined interior than the pre 2013 models.

I might add the Pathfinder. 2013 platinum model and up had better luxury feel interior and features than the MDX. The dash of the MDX look and feels cheap with its textured hard plastic finish. It was a turn off for me when I test drove one. Though I like the LED headlights.

I agree with the older generation Pathfinders. They are a beast based on your listed requirements.
