We actually started smelling it in our FX35 last week which has about 46k miles. Going to take it to the dealership next week to have it checked out again. We would get that sulfer/rotten egg smell intermittently using Chevron (high grade) and switched to Shell (high grade), but we still have the same issue. We took it to the dealer over a month ago to check into the lower mileage and the egg smell (we got an M37 loaner ). They kept it for a couple days but couldn't find anything and suggested to use a can of the BG 44k and to switch gas when we switched to Shell. The BG 44k may have just been a placebo affect but it seems to have helped a tad with the mileage and throttle response. So the FX35 still has a hint of the egg smell and now the ammonia smell :disapointed:. I'll let you know what the dealers finds.
BTW, I forgot to mention that I read that supposedly ethanol can give that ammonia smell, but I dont think our gas has that yet (till oct?) when it's oxygenated. There's a sticker on the Shell pump mentioning it will be oxygenated effect Oct through March and contains up to 10% ethanol. I just couldn't tell if it has 10% ethanol all the time or during that period.
Highwind-If that smell is coming from when you turn your ac on it could just be the cabin filter that needs to be changed out. I had a nasty egg smell too and I changed my cabin filter and smell went away. Its either this or maybe an exhaust leak. Good luck.

Nope, it's from the exhaust. I could only smell the egg or ammonia smell from the outside and from the back of the FX. I actually replaced the cabin filter about two months ago due to that funky smell from the ac vents. If it's an exhaust leak, would it have to be before the cats to cause the smell or could it be from anywhere on the exhaust system?
you can check at cold start, wait couple minutes then go under the car and look for water leakage, or water spots and ull know what part its leaking from
