LEDs for headlights

Has anyone used LEDs for turn signal and driving lights in their FX? I am trying to order some from Vleds but not sure which one to order... any suggestions?

Yes quite a bit of us have. I purchased mine on http://www.superbrightleds.com/ and cross referenced them using http://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgmain.aspx. As far as the turn signals, I left mine stock but changed pretty much every other one. I'll see if I can pull my invoice on what I ordered to help you out.

This is what I ordered:

: Qty | Product / Options | Price/ea |
============================================================
12 | 3022 High Power 4-LED Festoon bulb | $ 6.95 |
Cool White 3022-CWHP4
------------------------------------------------------------
4 | WLED-xHP High Power LED bulb | $ 4.95 |
Pure White WLED-WHP
------------------------------------------------------------
2 | WLED-xHP5 Wedge Base Bulb | $ 5.95 |

------------------------------------------------------------
2 | 744x series 3-HP LED Wedge bulb | $ 12.95 |

I changed most of my stuff out for LED's

The White box lights in the headlight assembly (Canada DTRL):
I have got like 4 different ones so far. First set was from carid, but one of them burnt out. They only worked as a pair for some reason. Then I got some from amazon. There are 2 different kinds, High and low beam(7443?), and single brightness(7440?). If you do the DTRL mod, they will go in high beam mode, and people may flash you thinking you have high beam on at night. If you have the real DTRL they will work correctly.

The corner lights:
I got a big bag of cheap leds from amazon, and I've had to toss out a few, but so cheap not a big deal. If you complain to seller some will send you new ones. Might look nicer with a straight light strip as opposed to a round one.

License plate:
I got some with a bright down facing led, but the first set the main one burnt out and one became stroby. they sent me a replacement and those burnt as well. I kept them in since the side lights work fine, and having a bright light there messed up the back up camera view. (bumper was so bright you cant see anything else.) the way it is now it is a nice white light but not too bright.
There is another thread for some custom down pointing strips made by someone on the forum.

Thanks everyone for the replies
Just wanted to make sure it wont throw a dead bulb light or something.. so no resistors needed for these ones it seems...

can we do LED on the rear signal or would that one needs a resistor?

It's not like a BMW or MB so LED's won't cause bulb out warnings. But if you use LED's on the turn signals, you will need a load resistor or similar. Otherwise, you will get the hyperflash.

The problem I'm running into is the LED bulbs I'm using are so "loose" in the DTRL socket that I cannot get them to sit still. By the time I get them in and locked in place they have moved or go off after a few minutes... I've tried black electrical tape and even considered using super-glue to hold them in place... the original factory bulbs which are halogen glass sit nice and firm, but these plastic ebay/amazon led bulbs just continue to wiggle around in the factory socket, anyone have good suggestions for that hyper-white look without all the trouble? The "City" light bulbs I am trying to swap out... any good suggestions?

Im noticing bmw and acuras with led headlights. Looking at them at night, the lightout put is pretty low to what is supposed to be equivalent to hid lights.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337

Sylvania makes high quality LED 168 bulbs that probably fit better. They are like $10 a pop though. I have them in the license plate lights and haven't had a problem.

Those look like 168 bulbs not 7440/7443 For the DTRL all the ones I have bought are much bigger than those. I have a 1st gen with the clear box around the bulb, so the lots of little led'd looks nice, better dispersion.
I have something like these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050LOKSW/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 they have a lot of little leds all over (like 50).

If the 2nd gen has a more normal socket, you may want to get one with the brighter forward glow. I would look at something like this: http://www.amazon.com/White-Optical...1396377319&sr=8-1&keywords=projector+LED+7443 I have not tried those, but I may get amber ones for my forward turn signals to try them out.

I put these in the corner marker lights http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ETCIO8/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (the little orange and red side areas.) A few of them failed and got blinky on me, but once I replaced those, they have lasted fine. I think they will generally fail quickly if they're bad. Looks like I got all of mine in 2012.
The license plate bulbs I got were tricky because there is very little room, even the 168's I used in the corners would not fit.
