Knocking Sound during Acceleration

I'm almost afraid of asking this because it may have been asked countless times. When I accelerate aggressively from a standstill I always hear this knocking sound coming from the front of the car. It sounds like small baseball is loose inside the engine compartment. It sounds almost like a plasticky sound, very non-metallic. And it sounds like it is coming from the front driver's side.

Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be the sway bar links? Please bear with me if the answer is pretty obvious!

had same problem it was gas. Dont use cheap ass gas. Was it a pinging sound only when you jump on throttle?

bad gas is probably the culprit but check out for pulley noise.
