Keeping Crystal Clear headlights?

my 03 headlights dont look great. I have tried a couple of the lense restorer products. They look great iniatially but they seem to get poor looking even faster now. After i polish them well what can i put on them to keep them crystal clear?

Anyone tried the powerball drill attachment for lights?

I use Meguiar's Scratch-X 2.0 on mine. Its mainly for paint, but I did use it to buff a lot of my scratches and UV hazing on mine, but it does eventually return. Mine last a few months though. I haven't used any on my headlight since October I think, but I notice theres some minor discoloring lately. We need to use a product that has anti UV ingredients in it. I don't know any store brought brands at the moment that do. I think only professional detailers have that stuff. In general, I park my car in shady places or against buildings to prevent any type of sunlight hitting my car.

Ultimate Compound should help either but PlasitX is dedicated to headlights.

How do you apply this?

My headlights look like they have a thin film bonded on the front (for protection?), does this need to be polished off?

I'm not sure if this applies to our car or not, but I think every manufacturer does this. They use some UV coating/film over the headlights for protection, but after time and age, it will wear away. Maybe that's what you see?

I use various metal polishes on the headlights. Usually done during show cleaning, seems to work ok.

When you sand down headlights, you take off the initial UV protectants from them. It begins to haze after some time because it doesn't have that protection anymore. I have had success on my previous car by wet sanding them up to 2000 grit to get rid of the pitting, and paying a bodyshop like $30 to clearcoat the headlights. Makes it look brand new. Clearcoat from a can won't work tho.
