Just posting this for future Googler value, since it appears to be a pretty rare condition, but happened to me twice in the recent glorious Illinois winter. Affects some 2003-06 Nissan/Infiniti models. Conditions were identical both times. The first time it recovered after about 3 tries (hmm, that's weird...), but the second resulted in a tow. I was actually at the store buying a battery for my other car when it happened, so I jumped it with the new battery. Nada. When tipping the bed to roll the car off, the tow driver turned the key to shift the trans into neutral, turned a little too far and the engine caught. Shop could not replicate the problem after a week (no codes), so I beat the Internet until I found this. The IPDM replacement ($550 part) is a little too dear to invest in, so I'll just keep my 12 year-old Escape insured and mind the weather. With 200 kilomiles on the FX I need a spare anyway!

VARIOUS INFINITI MODELS; ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK (NO START) WITH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE BELOW 10º F

A "No Crank" (starter doesn’t work) incident under all of the following conditions:
1. The vehicle sat for several hours (cold soak) with outside temperatures below 10º F (-12º C); and
2. The vehicle was then driven for a short period of time (5-10 minutes); and
3. The engine was then turned OFF for a short time (5-15 minutes); and
4. The starter didn’t work (the engine would not crank) when a restart was attempted.

But that's no start, right? Mine was no crank (like a dead starter). All lights and gauges, fuel pump worked, though.
